Expanding Social Communication helps children and young adults learn to unlock their imaginations and thinking skills in order to build friendships, become more aware of themselves and others, and be successful members of their families and of life.

Here, social skills and language development activities are offered to individuals and groups in a variety of settings. Private groups  for preschoolers and elementary age children are formed throughout the year, run for five to eight sessions, and are limited to a maximum of four participants. The focus here is on developing language and communication, expanding social thinking, and learning how to successfully participate in social relationships with peers as well as adults.

Groups for young teens, teens, and young adults are held in the evenings and run for five to ten sessions.   The focus here is developing awareness to deal with daily events and social situations via social thinking, acting games, video feedback and discussions. These groups are limited to six participants.

Please feel free to contact me directly to see if the above groups are right for you and your child.

I come to this work as a Speech Language Pathologist with a strong background in acting and coaching theatre artists. In 1994 I began developing an effective imaginative approach helping children learn and use social skills. In the work, which continually evolves, I combine traditional social skills therapy techniques with drama activities, interactive games and video feedback. I find that this method unlocks previously closed doors for those diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, High Functioning Autism, PDD-NOS, NLD, SLI, ADD, ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorders, and Word Retrieval Difficulties, as well as for neurotypical children who simply suffer shyness. I have worked with  UCLA's Neuropsychiatric Unit, developed a social skills curriculum for elementary school children, and have a successful private practice.

Your inquiries are welcome. I look forward to speaking with you.
